John Geist is a piano tuner/technician and a composer, as well as a member of the Music Teachers Association. He has tuned pianos for the Oakland Symphony and chamber orchestras, the San Francisco Symphony's Chamber Series and for recording studios around the Bay Area. John has been tuning and rebuilding pianos since 1975.
As a composer John has received two Bay Area Critic Circle Awards, a nonesuch National Commission Award, and been a California Arts Council Artist in Residence. He has created work for the Kronos Quartet, Margaret Jenkins Dance Co., and the Berkeley Repertory Theatre among many others. He also accepts motivated private composition students.

John Geist has been tuning and rebuilding pianos since 1975 and is a master of his trade. He was a member of the Piano Technician's Guild.
Other technical services include: regulation, voicing, restringing, repair and other rebuilding such as installing new hammers, etc. John also does appraisals and estimates for repair work as well as sometimes having a discounted price piano available for sale.

Tuning, repair and piano maintenance services are available in the northern San Francisco Bay Area, East Bay and San Francsisco.
